About Us
Comtek Radio has its origons with DX Radio Systems which was based in Perth and began in 2016. Due to its relationship with its parent company that shut down in August 2023, DXRS also shut its doors and since then, we have been planning the rebirth of the business as a separate entity.
Comtek Radio is purely an online business, which with the size of our market and its spread across the nation, is the only way to start. Our warehouse is now based in Canberra, with some of our product likely to be available for pickup from satellite offices in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane in the near future (watch this space). We have invested heavily in stock (upwards of $500K so far) so we are here for the long haul. With prior warning and prepayment, pickup from our Canberra warehouse is available. Please note that the warehouse can not take payment for your order and you can not turn up unannounced.
Shipping... generally speaking we provide free shipping. Unfortunately we can't do this for orders with a total value under $50. We do have a flat rate of $20 for shipping in this instance. The good news is if your order is more than $30, you may as well look for another $20 of goodies for the shack rather than pay the same amount for shipping!
We have retained our most loyal suppliers in the move from DXRS, including FlexRadio, Hustler, Avair, Benelec and TET Emtron. In addition we have added Hills Antennas and bhi Noise Cancelling Accessories to our range, and we are in good discussions with more suppliers.
We are also very grateful to have retained many of our DXRS customers. This is especially valued now that there is quite a bit more quality competition in the market these days.
We do pride ourselves in providing great service and competitive pricing, and.....
- we smile at our customers
- we are easy to deal with
- we are experts in the products we sell
- we choose carefully our suppliers
- we love this hobby
Areas we specialise in include remote operation. This is becoming increasingly popular as technology has become available to easily build smart and functional high performance stations installed in noise free locations. We sell products for most of the requirements for building a remote station and we certainly can assist with advice on integration.
Our relationship with FlexRadio is a large and important part of our business. Since rebuilding the business, we have become one of FlexRadio's largest partners and we expect this to grow into an authorised service centre for Region 3 over the next 12 months. We now hold stock of all models of the Flex range in Canberra (M series radios are due to arrive in Canberra before the end of January).
We are expecting to visit at least one ham radio event in each state each year.
One area of our business we have been working on quite a bit is with the WIA. We sponsor the DX Leaderboard medals and trophies and we especially value this opportunity to be involved in something that most of our customers also cherish.
Interested in learning more about Remote Operation? We are always happy to do individual and club presentations on this topic, using our own station as an example across teams. We are also happy to do these presentations at ham events either in person or via video teleconference.
