Comtek CR-9800 Quad-Band Mobile Transceiver
10m/6m/2m/70 cm • Up to 50 W • Dual Receive • 800 Memories • Detachable Control Head
The Comtek CR-9800 is a versatile quad-band FM mobile transceiver covering the 10 metre, 6 metre, 2 metre and 70 centimetre amateur bands.
Manufactured by TYT in partnership with Comtek Radio and configured specifically for Australian amateur radio operation, the CR-9800 combines a proven TYT multi-band platform with an Australian-specific configuration.
Unlike standard international versions of the radio, transmission is limited to the applicable Australian amateur bands, while the radio retains its original wideband receive coverage. In VFO mode, repeater offsets and shift directions are configured to follow the WIA Australian Amateur Band Plan.
With up to 50 W output, dual receive, 800 memory channels, cross-band repeater capability and a detachable control head, the CR-9800 provides considerable flexibility for both mobile and base-station operation.

Configured for Australian Amateur Radio
The CR-9800 has been developed specifically for Australian amateur operators.
Transmit operation is restricted to the applicable Australian amateur allocations:
| Band | Transmit Frequency |
|---|---|
| 10 metres | 28.000–29.700 MHz |
| 6 metres | 50.000–54.000 MHz |
| 2 metres | 144.000–148.000 MHz |
| 70 centimetres | 430.000–450.000 MHz |
The radio retains the original TYT wideband receive capability, allowing frequencies outside the amateur transmit bands to be monitored where supported by the receiver.
In VFO mode, repeater offsets and shift directions are configured in accordance with the WIA Australian Amateur Band Plan, making the radio better suited to Australian repeater operation straight out of the box.
Four Bands – One Radio
Most VHF/UHF mobile transceivers concentrate on 2 metres and 70 centimetres. The CR-9800 adds 6 metre and 10 metre FM operation, giving the operator four amateur bands from a single mobile installation.
The radio provides four selectable power levels, with up to 50 W on 10m,6m and 2m and up to 40W on 70 cm.
Independent left and right band controls and dual-receive capability allow two frequencies to be monitored simultaneously, while the radio's cross-band repeater function provides additional flexibility for suitable amateur applications.
Flexible Mobile Installation
The detachable control head allows the main transceiver body to be installed under a seat, in the rear of a vehicle or in another convenient location while positioning the controls where they are easy to see and operate.
A front-panel separation cable and control-head mounting bracket are supplied as part of the standard package.
The CR-9800 is equally suited to fixed-station operation when connected to an appropriate 13.8 V DC power supply and antenna system.
PC Programming Included
Every CR-9800 includes the Comtek CR-9800 Programming Software and USB programming cable.
PC programming provides a convenient way to configure memory channels, repeater frequencies and other programmable settings, particularly when maintaining a larger collection of local and travelling repeater channels.
